Pirates maintain lead atop OEC standings

RIVERSIDE -- The Orange Coast College men's golf team continues to lead the pack atop the Orange Empire Conference standings after finishing second on Monday at Victoria Country Club.

The Pirates earned four wins and a loss for their eighth OEC matchup and with three runs remaining in the regular season, Coast (32-8) is eight wins ahead of second-place Saddleback (24-16) and nine wins ahead of third-place Cypress (23-17). 

On Monday, Coast fired a team score of 382 and was topped only by host Riverside (371). Saddleback also carded a 382, but the Pirates earned the second-place slot based on the sixth-golfer tiebreaker. 

Connor Hurst, Jordan Meas and Austin Briggs each carded a 75 for the Pirates, while Marcus De La Rosa shot a 78 and Justin Collins came in with a 79. Jeremy Dorff, OCC's sixth golfer carded an 80, which was five shots better than Saddleback's No. 6 golfer, Jeff Collins, which allowed OCC to earn the second slot in the team scores. 

The Pirates will return to action on Wednesday as Irvine Valley hosts the ninth OEC matchup at Oak Creek Golf Club, beginning at 11 a.m.
