Pirates roll to 7-2 win at Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD -- The Orange Coast College men's tennis team made the most of a long trip by defeating host Bakersfield College, 7-2, on Friday afternoon in a nonconference matchup.

In No. 1 singles, OCC's Quoc Tran needed three sets against BC's Moses Jimenez, but pulled out a 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 win. The rest of the Pirates rolled to straight-set victories, including August Von Heimburg (6-1, 6-0), J.P. Pham (6-0, 6-1), Yuma Olsen (6-0, 6-1), Faress Sorial (6-1, 6-3) and Nick Tran (6-0, 6-1).

The Renegades managed to pick up a pair of wins in doubles, but the OCC duo of Pham and Olsen rolled to an 8-0 win, improving OCC's team season record to 7-1 overall.

OCC will return to action on Tuesday, at home, against Riverside City College, beginning at 2 p.m.
