Pirates pick up 5-4 win over Riverside
COSTA MESA -- It came down to the very end, but the Orange Coast College men's tennis team pulled out a hard-fought 5-4 Orange Empire Conference win over visiting Riverside on Tuesday afternoon.
J.P. Phan (6-0, 6-1), Ryan Mulrooney (6-1, 6-2) and Yuma Olsen (6-4, 6-3) picked up wins for the Pirates (8-2, 1-1 in OEC), as both teams headed into doubles play tied, 3-3.
In doubles, Riverside picked up the win at No. 1, but the OCC teams of Quoc Tran/Pham (8-4) and Olson/Daniel Zerlotti (8-1) prevailed, giving the host Pirates the win.
OCC will travel to Saddleback on Thursday to take on the Gauchos, beginning at 2 p.m. OCC's next home match will be on Tuesday against Fullerton, also at 2 p.m.
