Pirates pick up nice 6-3 win over El Camino

TORRANCE -- Every win counts for the Orange Coast College men's tennis team and on Monday, the Pirates picked up an well-deserved 6-3 nonconference victory over host El Camino College.

Coast (11-7) took 2-of-3 in doubles play as the teams of Quoc Tran and J.P. Phan rolled to an 8-1 win, while at No. 3 doubles, the team of Daniel Zerlotti and Yuma Olsen swept through their competition for an 8-0 win.

In singles play, OCC needed to grind out some victories, and the Pirates managed to do so, led by the strong play of Tran (7-6, 6-2), Olson (7-5, 6-1), Zerlotti (4-6, 6-3, 6-0) and Ryan Mulrooney (6-1, 6-0).

With postseason hopes still in the air. the Pirates will have one final home match on Tuesday, April 2 against Saddleback, beginning at 2 p.m.
