Pirates take care of home business with 7-2 win
COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College men's tennis team used a strong doubles start and carried that into a 7-2 Orange Empire Conference win over visiting Saddleback College on Thursday at the OCC Tennis Complex.
Coast lost only 10 games total in the three doubles sets and were led by the duos of Amir Rezaeinezhad/Jie Kashiwagi (8-2), Yusuf Elshahed/Taiki Sakai (8-6) and Luke Godding/Josh Hennig (8-2).
Straight-set wins were on the menu for the Pirates in singles play as all four of OCC's victories were won in two straight, including Rezaeinezhad (6-0, 6-0), Godding (6-0, 6-0), Sakai (6-1, 6-1) and Hennig (6-2, 3-0 retired).
Up next for the Pirates (8-9, 2-5 in OEC) will be the conference tournament, hosted by OCC on Thursday.
