Pirates run strong at Titan Invitational

FULLERTON -- The Orange Coast College men's cross country team posted impressive times at this weekend's Cal State Fullerton Titan Invitational and finished second overall.

The Pirates, taking on some of the top local four-year programs, finished second with 43 points. SoCal Elite topped the field with 20 points, while UCLA finished third with 88 points.

Luis Morales finished third on the 8K course among attached runners with a time of 24 minutes, 34.6 seconds. Teammates Jose Ortiz (24:56.1) and Lucio Ramirez (25:09) also cracked the top-10 for the Pirates, while Jay Bonthius (25:19.2) and Conner Garcia (25:33.3) also earned points for OCC.

Other top scores for Coast included Brandon Ferguson (25:49.9), Jesus Valdez (25:54), Dillon Scott (26:09.7), Christopher Harlan (26:10.8), Jorge Jeronimo (26:36.6), Cesar Galvez (26:56.1), Michael Martinez (27:06.9), Ryan Ogan (27:46.7), Omar Cisneros (27:48) and Mathew Sommer (28:28.5).

The Pirates will now prepare for the upcoming postseason races, starting with the Orange Empire Conference Championships, set for Friday at Irvine Park in Orange, beginning at 10 a.m.
