Pirates finish seventh at SD Mesa Invitational

SAN DIEGO -- The Orange Coast College men's cross country headed south to the San Diego Mesa Invitational, where the Pirates finished seventh overall with a team score of 185.

Against some of the top programs in the state, OCC's Brian Soriano-Guzman showed that he is one of the elite runners at this level, finishing ninth on the tough four-mile course with a time of 20 minutes, 48.65 seconds.

A top-25 time was turned in by Pirate teammate Hector Espana, who clocked in with a time of 21:21.55.

Other top OCC times included August Garcia (22:02.17), Cole Ridenour (22:28.39), Carlos Ramos (22:32.67), Connor O'Brien (23:20.58), Raoul Kelly (23:26.59), Emiliano Gonzalez (23:41.00), Zack Lang (24:01.21), Miguel Zarco (24:38.53), Damian Martinez (24:42.08) and Kevin Carrera (25:50.80).

Coast will take the week off from competition but will return to racing on Friday, Oct. 21 at the Cal State Fullerton Invitational, beginning at 5 p.m.
