Pirates finish fourth overall at SD Mesa Invitational

SAN DIEGO -- Thanks to three top-25 performances, the Orange Coast College men's cross country earned a solid fourth-place team finish at the 2023 Manny Bautista Cross Country Invitational on Friday, hosted by San Diego Mesa College.

Coast finished with a team score of 123 points, trailing only Mt. San Antonio (33), San Diego Mesa (35) and Riverside City College (90).

OCC's top runner was freshman standout Jimmy Dominguez, who conquered the 4-mile course in 12th place, with a time of 20 minutes, 53.16 seconds. 

Carlos Ramos was close behind with a time of 21:32.59, followed immediately by Viencent Luong-Kha with a time of 21:33.03.

Farhaan Safi (22:08.37) and William Spangler (22:11.8) each finished with point-producing performances for the Pirates. Other top OCC times were turned in by Don Molina (22:28.69), Lance Copp (22:47.05), Caden Guardino (23:00.85), Anthony Bernal (23:34.47), Damian Martinez (24:14.79), Emiliano Gonzalez (25:14.47) and Kevin Rival (27:01.8).

The Pirates will return to cross country action on Friday, Oct. 20 at the Cal State Fullerton Titan Invitational, beginning at 5 p.m.
