Pirates fall to Seahawks, 17-9

COSTA MESA -- On a chilly afternoon at the Orange Coast College Softball Complex, the bats were smoking hot for both sides, but in the end the host Pirates came up short, falling to visiting L.A. Harbor, 17-9, in six innings on Monday.

In a game that "featured" eight errors and 12 unearned runs combined between the two teams, the Pirates (0-6) were bitten most by two-out run production from the Seahawks (2-1).

In fact, out of L.A. Harbor's 17 runs, 10 were scored with two outs.

OCC's offense was led by several standout performances, including Nicole Watkins (2-for-2, two walks, two runs, two RBI), Cat Osburn (1-for-3, two runs, two RBI), Alexis Ortega (2-for-4, one run) and Caitlyn Kelley, who came off of the bench to produce two hits, two runs and an RBI in two plate appearances.

Marissa Tartaglione ripped a pair of home runs and finished with two runs scored and three RBI for the Seahawks. Jazmine Culpepper went 2-for-3 with a run scored and four RBI, while Cheyenne Giddens added a hit, a run and three RBI.

Coast will return to action on Wednesday at home against El Camino, beginning at 3 p.m.
