Tigers too much for Pirates

COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College softball team went up against powerhouse Riverside City College and the Tigers prevailed, 18-0 on Wednesday at the OCC Softball Complex.

The Tigers (18-1, 8-1 in the OEC), ranked No. 3 in the state, ripped out 20 hits and slugged out four home runs in just five innings of work. Katherine Macias went 4-for-5 with two home runs and five RBI to lead the Tigers' offense.

Macias also picked up the win with three shutout innings of work. She allowed just one hit -- a single by Nicole Watkins -- and struck out eight. 

OCC's other hit in the game came off the bat of Katie Kendrick.

The Pirates will look to regroup on Friday at Santiago Canyon College, beginning at 3 p.m.
