Pirates make quick work over L.A. Mission

COSTA MESA -- It was a quick day at the office for the Orange Coast College softball team as the Pirates rolled to a 13-2, five-inning win over visiting L.A. Mission College on Wednesday at the OCC Softball Stadium.

The Pirates (4-1) took advantage of several walks and ill-timed defensive miscues by the Eagles (1-8) and picked up some timely hitting of their own.

Kimora Tuipala went 2-for-2 with two runs and three RBI for Coast, while Jasmyn Morales went 1-for-2 with three runs and two RBI. Reyna Hernandez also went 1-for-1 with two runs and two RBI.

In the circle, Ruby Fidge picked up the win with three innings of solid work before giving up the reins to Kelsey McNair, who faced six LAMC batters ... and struck them all out.

Coast capped off the game with a five-run fourth inning after the first two batters were retired in the frame.

The Pirates will return to action on Saturday with a multi-team doubleheader at Bakersfield College. Coast will play Allan Hancock in the opener, beginning at 2 p.m. before playing the host Renegades at 4 p.m.
