Pirates show improvement with second-place performance

PLACENTIA --  After a rough week of golf in their previous Orange Empire Conference matchup, the Orange Coast College Pirates notched a second-place showing at Wednesday's women's golf neutral site matchup, played at Alta Vista Golf Club.

The Pirates (5-7 overall) shot a team score of 352, 23 shots better than their 375 posted on Sept. 21 at Diamond Bar. Only Saddleback's 347 was ahead of Coast, while Irvine Valley (360), Mt. San Antonio (368) and Fullerton (384) trailed OCC's final score.

Calyn Hockerson led the way for the Pirates, carding a 12-over-par 84, the fifth-lowest score among all of the competitors in the field.

Teammates September Mirghanbari and Lina You each shot an 86, while Tiffany States (96), Maggie Pazdernik (105) and Jillian Licciardi (107) rounded out the scoring for the Pirates.

The entire OEC field will be back in action on Wednesday at Oak Creek Golf Club, beginning at 11 a.m.
