Pirates open season with third-place OEC result
COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College women's golf team opened its 2016 season at the familiar Costa Mesa Golf and Country Club on Monday in the season's first Orange Empire Conference match and the Pirates finished third overall with a team score of 369.
Irvine Valley came in with the lowest team score with a 347, while Saddleback finished second at 360. Mt. San Antonio placed fourth at 376, while Fullerton College (378) took fifth.
Leading the way for the Pirates was sophomore September Mirghanbari, who carded an 86 under windy, pre-rainy conditions. Calyn Hockerson came in with an 89, while Maggie Pazdernik (96), Tiffany States (98) and Jillian Licciardi (100) rounded out the Pirate scores.
Low golfer for the day went to IVC's Araceli Esquivel, who shot an 81.
Coast will return to action on Wednesday at Diamond Bar Golf Club as Fullerton hosts the next OEC matchup, beginning at 12 p.m.
