Pirates finish fourth at OEC Finals, qualify for SoCal Regionals

IRVINE -- The Orange Coast College women's golf team earned a trip to the Southern California Regionals as a team by finishing fourth overall in the Orange Empire Conference following the conclusion of the two-day OEC Finals, held at Rancho San Joaquin on Monday and Wednesday.

Led by the strong play of first-team, All-OEC selection Meah Collins and second-team selection Emma Ashcraft, the Pirates shot a two-day team score of 733 and finished the regular season in fourth place, behind OEC champ Saddleback, runner-up Fullerton and third-place College of the Desert.

Collins wrapped up the two-day event with a total score of 156 (80-76), which trailed only Fullerton College's Catherine Lee (80-72-152) for the lowest total score at the finals. Lee was the low scorer for the entire season, with an average round of 75.9, with Collins third overall with an average score of 77.3.

Ashcraft was close behind, shooting a 158 (80-78) and finished seventh among all OEC golfers with an average round score of 82.9.

Other top scores for the Pirates at the OEC Finals included Lexi Jaeger (98-94-192) and Coco Fulton (110-117-227). 

The Southern California Regional will take place on Nov. 6-7 at El Prado Golf Club in Chino, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
