Pirates cruise to 8-1 win over Glendale

GLENDALE -- The Orange Coast College women's tennis team won their fourth match in a row with an 8-1 nonconference win over host Glendale College on Friday, Feb. 21.

The Pirates (5-5) picked up straight-set wins in five of their singles matches, including Shayee Sherif (6-1, 6-1), Jade Moreno (6-3, 6-4), Christina Nguyen (6-4, 7-6), Lillian Mason (7-6, 6-2) and Audrey Sinclair (6-0, 6-2).

It was a sweep in doubles play for OCC with wins coming from the teams of Sherif/Jade Moreno (8-1), Chloe Mason/Nguyen (8-5) and Lillian Mason/Sinclair (8-6).

Friday's victory came on the heels of three other solid wins by the Pirates, who knocked off Imperial Valley on Feb. 14 (7-2), San Diego City on Feb. 18 (7-2) and Cypress on Feb. 20 (7-2).

Coast will return to action on Tuesday at Saddleback College, beginning at 2 p.m. OCC's next home match will be on Thursday against Fullerton at 2 p.m. at the Costa Mesa Tennis Center.
