Pirates blank Saddleback, 9-0
MISSION VIEJO -- It was a clean sweep for the Orange Coast College women's tennis team as the Pirates cruised to a 9-0 Orange Empire Conference win at Saddleback College on Tuesday.
Leading the way for the Pirates (6-6, 1-3 in the OEC) was sophomore standout Shayee Sherif, who didn't drop a game in either set en route to a 6-0, 6-0 win. Other singles victories came from Jade Moreno (6-3, 6-4), Chloe Mason (6-2, 6-4), Christina Nguyen (7-5, 6-2), Avely Gutierrez (6-0, 6-1) and Audrey Sinclair (default).
It was more of the same in doubles play as Sherif/Moreno (8-2) and Sinclair/Lillian Mason (8-1) each earned easy wins for the Pirates. OCC's No. 3 doubles won by default.
Coast will return to action on Tuesday at Cypress College, beginning at 2 p.m. OCC's next home match will be on Thursday against Irvine Valley at the Costa Mesa Tennis Center, beginning at 2 p.m.
