Pirates dethrone Knights, 7-2
COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College women's tennis team continues its spectacular 2025 season with a 7-2 nonconference home win against San Diego City College on Friday at the OCC Tennis Complex.
The Pirates (13-1) picked up all three doubles sets to start things off, with victories courtesy of the teams of Ava Bocek/Tori Varela (8-6), Mebuki Kitakuni/Kaylee Ho (8-2) and Kayla Cheng/Breckyn Burg (8-0).
From there, Coast earned four straight-set victories, courtesy of Kitakuni (6-1, 6-0), Varela (6-1, 6-0), Bocek (6-2, 6-0) and Sydney Friesan (6-3, 6-1).
Coast will return to Orange Empire Conference action on Tuesday at home against Fullerton College, beginning at 2 p.m.
