Pirate women go 1-2-3 at OEC Multi-Event Championships

RIVERSIDE -- The Orange Coast College trio of sophomore Precious Kilburg, Julie Mariano and Yasmine Cocotis went 1-2-3 at Wednesday's Orange Empire Conference Multi-Event Championships, hosted by Riverside City College.

With wins in six of seven events, Kilburg took home the top spot with 2,796 points. Mariano finished second with 2,444 points, while Cocotis (2,027) finished third.

Kilburg won the 100-meter hurdles (19.02 seconds), the shot put (21-feet, 3-inches), the 200 (29.73), the long jump (13-9), javelin (83-10) and 800 (2:56.96) to lead the way for the Pirates.

Mariano took home the top spot in the high jump with a mark of 4-5 1/2.

These strong performances helped qualify Kilburg and Mariano for the upcoming Southern California Regional Heptathlon/Decathlon Championships, hosted by Cerritos College, on April 3-4.
