TORRANCE -- The Orange Coast College women's volleyball team picked itself up from a tough loss at Ventura on Wednesday with a solid three-set win over host El Camino College (25-14, 25-16, 25-20) in a nonconference matchup.
The Pirates (4-1) picked up solid performances from several hitters, including Kingsley Mason (nine kills), Taylor Brandley (eight kills), Joceline Martinez (six kills), Madison Hopkins (five kills) and Lulu Utterback (five kills).
The setter combination of Jordan Packer (19 assists) and Cassie Smits Van Oyen (18 assists) made the offense click for OCC, while on defense, Sophia Wirtzer came up big with nine digs, Caroline Vasquez added eight digs and Hopkins dug up six.
After a two-match road trip, the Pirates return to the Peterson Gym for a Tri-Match on Friday, starting with Glendale College at 2 p.m. and College of the Desert at 6 p.m.
