COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College football team dropped a 55-7 decision to visiting Golden West College on Saturday night in the annual "West-Coast Showdown", played at LeBard Stadium.

A rough first half saw the Pirates (2-7, 1-4 in Southern Division) fall behind 35-0 to the Rustlers (7-2, 4-1) as the guests reclaimed the "Victory Bell" for the fifth straight year.

Quarterback Kody Whitaker threw the ball a school record 53 times, completing 29 passes for 230 yards and one touchdown. The lone TD strike came to Whitaker's favorite target of the night, freshman Davasyia Hagger, who pulled in eight passes for 101 yards, including that 55-yard TD hook-up.

The Pirates will wrap up the regular season on Saturday at Grossmont College, beginning at 1 p.m.
