Pirates hang on for 1-0 win over Southwestern

CHULA VISTA -- The Orange Coast College men's soccer team picked up a much-needed victory, topping the host Southwestern College Jaguars, 1-0, on Friday afternoon in a nonconference matchup.

The lone goal of the match came in the 51st minute when Armand Pigeon fed a nice pass over to Carlos Alcantara and the freshman midfielder didn't make a mistake finishing his shot into the back of the net.

That would prove to be enough as the OCC defense, anchored by four big saves from Collin Macha, kept the Jags off the scoreboard the entire match.

Coast will return to action on Friday at Palomar College, beginning at 7 p.m. OCC's next home match will take place on Friday, Sept. 30 against Irvine Valley, beginning at 3 p.m.
