Pirates continue strong start with 9-0 win over Warriors
NORWALK -- The Orange Coast College men's tennis team continues to shine through the opening matches of the 2023 season as the Pirates blanked host El Camino, 9-0, on Thursday in a nonconference matchup.
Through the first four matches, the Pirates (4-0) are not only undefeated, they have won 35 of 36 matches played thus far this year.
Coast swept all six singles matches on Thursday against the Warriors, including Logan Friedman (6-1, 6-1), Kai Rodriguez (7-6, 6-1), Anis Benamar Kerfah (6-1, 6-2), Ryan Magers (6-0, 6-0), Ryan Palaeologus (6-0, 6-0) and Makoto Seike (6-2, 6-1).
In doubles play, it was more of the same as the Pirates posted wins from Friedman/Rodriguez (8-3), Benamar Kerfah/Will Davis (8-4) and Magers/Chris Mietkiewicz (8-1).
The Pirates return home and will shoot for their fifth straight win on Tuesday against Bakersfield, beginning at 2 p.m.
