Pirates make quick work of Imperial Valley with 9-0 shutout
COSTA MESA -- It was a dominating performance from start to finish for the Orange Coast College men's tennis team as the Pirates rolled past visiting Imperial Valley, 9-0, on Friday at the OCC Tennis Complex.
OCC (6-1) only gave up six total games to Imperial Valley in singles play, with victories coming from Logan Friedman (6-0, 6-0), Kai Rodriguez (6-0, 6-2), Makoto Seike (6-0, 6-4), Khalid Alsadek (6-0, 6-0), Tranh Huynh (6-0, 6-0) and Colby Kaplan (6-0, 6-0).
It was the same sort of dominance for the Pirates in doubles play with blowout wins coming from Yuta Kawabata/Will Davis (8-2), Jackson Hale/Nao Sone (8-1) and Kick Kester/Jamieson McLellan (8-0).
The Pirates will open up Orange Empire Conference play on Tuesday at Fullerton College, beginning at 2 p.m. OCC's next home match will be a nonconference contest with Glendale on Friday, also at 2 p.m.
