
Pirates prepared for SoCal Finals
COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College men's track and field team has their next "biggest test" of the season as the Pirates head to Saddleback College for the 2025 Southern California Regional Finals, which takes place on Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m.
With several Pirates gunning for a spot in next week's 3C2A State Finals, there will be a lot riding on Saturday's SoCal Finals, including a pair of Coast hammer throwers, Sean Artest and Mark Lutke.
Artest finished second among all SoCal qualifiers in last weekend's prelims with a throw of 162-feet, 3-inches. Lutke was close behind is OCC throwing mate with a third-place mark of 156-2 3/4.
Brendan Clark qualified for three SoCal Finals events this Saturday, including the javelin throw, the 400 and 400 hurdles.
Other OCC qualifiers include Lutke in the shot put, Deuce Frierson in the javelin, Chance Callinan in the 3,000 steeplechase, Josaiah Meggs in the 200, Caden Guardino in the 10,000 and OCC's 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams.
