Pirates sweep past Corsairs, Brahmas
COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College men's volleyball team picked up a pair of road wins, sweeping past Santa Monica City College on Wednesday and L.A. Pierce on Friday.
The wins push the Pirates' overall record to 4-2 overall.
In Wednesday's 25-23, 25-18, 25-19 win over the Corsairs, Johannes Brink led Coast with 14 kills and six blocks. Cody Martin added seven kills and Conner Luckey contributed five kills and four block assists.
Setter Brandon Duff dished out 21 assists, while Ty Hutchins anchored the defense with eight digs.
In Friday's 25-22, 25-20, 28-26 win over the Brahmas, Martin led the way with 19 kills, while Brink added 18. The Coast duo combined for 37 of OCC's 52 kills for the night.
The Pirates will open up Pacific Coast Conference play on Wednesday at San Diego Mesa College (6 p.m.) before returning home on Friday against Golden West College (6 p.m.).
