Pirates open season with two wins

SACRAMENTO -- It was a very productive weekend for the Orange Coast College men's water polo team as the Pirates picked up a pair of wins at the 2013 American River College Tournament.

On Friday, the Pirates opened things with a 7-6 win over Sierra College. Despite a strong effort by the Wolverines, OCC's Scott Brush led the offense with four goals and helped pave the way for the victory.

On Saturday, the Pirates made things easier on themselves and posted a 14-8 win over host American River. Showing the depth of the team's offense, Trent Hayes led the offense with two goals as the production was spread up and down the Coast lineup.

OCC will open Orange Empire Conference play at home on Wednesday against Fullerton College, beginning at 4 p.m.
