Pirates to take on Modesto in State Tourney opener

COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College softball team will be heading up north to West Valley College, site of the 2025 3C2A Softball State Championships, where they will take on Modesto in the opening round on Thursday, beginning at 2 p.m.
The Pirates (32-7), co-champions of the Orange Empire Conference, earned the No. 1 seed out of the south and they will match up with the Pirates from Northern California, the Modesto Junior College Pirates (28-13-1).
"We haven't played or seen much on Modesto but we know they are a great ballclub that put up some good numbers throughout the year," OCC head coach Jodie Kiaha said. "We will look to play them head to head and stay within our game plan."
