Pirates roll to 87-39 win over Tigers

RIVERSIDE -- The Orange Coast College women's basketball team scored early and often and cruised to an 87-39 Orange Empire Conference win over Riverside City College on Friday at RCC.

The sophomore trio of Myia Collins (18 points, 13 rebounds, five assists), Alyssa Dreessen (18 points, seven rebounds, three steals, two blocks) and Hailey Estrada (17 points, 14 rebounds, three assists, three steals) carried the play for the back-to-back defending state champs, who improve to 15-3 overall and 2-0 in the OEC.

Kayla Borgelt came off the bench and had a solid game as well with 13 points, seven rebounds, six assists and two steals in 24 minutes of action.

It was a dominating performance for the Pirates as they held the Tigers (9-9, 0-2) to just 15-of-62 shooting (24.2%) from the floor and outscored RCC 52-14 in the post. Coast forced 22 Riverside turnovers which led to a 28-2 advantage in points off of turnovers. Coast also controlled the boards to the tune of a 64-44 rebounding edge. 

The Pirates will return to action on Friday at home against Saddleback College, beginning at 5 p.m.
