Pirates roll to 3-0 win over Dons

SANTA ANA -- After Mother Nature had her say on Tuesday, the Orange Coast College women's soccer team had its say on Wednesday as the Pirates rolled to a 3-0 Orange Empire Conference road win over Santa Ana College an in Orange Empire Conference matchup played at SAC.

Early on, it looked like it was going to be one of those frustrating matches with overwhelming stats and nothing to show for it as the Pirates outshot the Dons 10-1 in the opening half, but could not find the back of the net as both teams were scoreless after the first 45 minutes of play.

But Olivia Hostetler, sixth in the state in goals scored, finally found success for the Pirates (8-3-2 overall, 2-1-2 in the OEC), scoring her first of two goals for the match in the 55th minute, putting OCC up for good. She added her second goal in the 71st minute before Chantelle Sanchez made it 3-0 just five minutes later off an assist from Grace Boyce.

It was a dominating performance for the Pirates as they outshot the Dons 20-2 overall.

Coast will return to the OCC Soccer Complex on Friday against Cypress, beginning at 3 p.m.
