Three Pirate women heading to CCCAA State Meet!

NORWALK -- Three Orange Coast College women's track and field standouts -- Michaela Schaeffer, Taylor Sims and Hannah Heising -- will make the trek to San Mateo for the state meet after their strong performances at the Southern California Regional Finals last weekend, held at Cerritos College.

Schaeffer competed in the triple jump and qualified seventh for state with a mark of 34-feet, 7-inches. 

Sims took on the top speed hurdlers in Southern California in the 100-meter hurdles and finished fifth overall with a time of 15.02 seconds.

Heising, OCC's distance hurdler specialist, competed in the 400 hurdles and finished third with a time of 1:04.81, just one second behind regional winner Jeyla Spencer of Southwestern College (1:03.65).

The California Community College Athletic Association State Track and Field Championships will take place Friday and Saturday at the College of San Mateo.
