Pirates are a perfect 7-for-7 to start 2018 season

SAN BERNARDINO -- Seven matches, seven wins for the Orange Coast College women's volleyball team as the Pirates wrapped up a four-team quad on Friday with wins over host San Bernardino Valley (25-8, 25-12, 25-14) and West Los Angeles (25-11, 25-10, 25-7).

In the win over SBVC, Coast was led offensively by Bailey Coffin, who notched 10 kills on just 15 attempts with one error. She also was a force on defense with 15 digs.

Kristi Black added five kills, while Hally Herder notched four. Both players also came up with six digs each.

Sophomore libero Rylee Adair led the Pirates with 22 digs, while the setting tandem of Shannon Stone and Camryn Kaina combined for 26 assists.

Against the Wildcats, Lily Johnson controlled the airways with a team-high 10 kills on just 14 attempts and two errors, while Herder went error free on her way to seven kills. 

Adair again anchored the defense with 20 digs, while Kaina distributed 16 assists.

OCC's final nonconference quad will take place on Wednesday inside the Peterson Gym against Citrus College (2 p.m.) and Santa Monica City College (4 p.m.).
