Adair, Johnson earn first-team, All-OEC honors for Pirates

COSTA MESA -- A pair of Orange Coast College women's volleyball standouts -- sophomore libero Rylee Adair and freshman middle blocker Lily Johnson -- earned first-team honors on this year's All-Orange Empire Conference team, as voted on by the conference's coaches at their end-of-season meeting.

Adair, who dominated the OEC on defense with 579 digs (next closest was Natalie Escher of Riverside with 370), wrapped up her two-year career scattered across OCC's record book for her consistent, solid play. After earning second-team, All-OEC honors last year (501 digs), she set the single-game digs record for the Pirates in their season finale with 45 against Ventura. She also became OCC's all-time digs leader with 1,064, shattering the previous record of 917 set by Sierra Lim in 2016-17. Adair finished her OCC career with the third- and fourth- most digs in a single season as well.

Johnson, a 6-0 freshman from Timberline (ID) High School, came to OCC and made an immediate impact on the program. She led the team with 264 kills (fourth-best in the OEC), while leading the conference with a .370 hitting percentage (10th-best in school history). A solid two-way player for the Pirates in 2018, Johnson led the team with 71 blocks, which was third-most in the OEC.

Joining Adair and Johnson on this year's All-OEC team are second-team selections are freshman setter Camryn Kaina and freshman outside hitter Bailey Coffin

Kaina paced the Pirate offense with a team-best 746 assists this year, second only to Irvine Valley's Truth Hafey's 759 assists) and also added 57 kills, 221 digs and 20 aces. Coffin finished sixth overall in the OEC with 251 kills (third-most on the team) to go along with 299 digs and 15 aces.

Coast finished the 2018 season with a record of 21-6 overall, 11-4 (tied for second place) in the always-tough Orange Empire Conference.
