Pirates continue winning ways with four-set triumph over Santa Ana

SANTA ANA -- The Orange Coast College women's volleyball team picked up win No. 14 for the season with a four-set victory over Santa Ana College on Wednesday in an Orange Empire Conference matchup played at Santa Ana College.

Raigan Ramos and Bailey Coffin each had 11 assists to pace OCC's offense as the Pirates rolled past the Dons, 25-21, 25-22, 20-25, 25-19, improving their record to 14-1 overall, 5-1 in the OEC.

With the win, Coast remains in second place behind undefeated Irvine Valley (9-0, 5-0) and ahead of third-place Riverside (10-4, 4-1) and fourth-place Cypress (8-6, 3-2) in the conference standings.

Hally Herder added to the Pirate offense with eight kills, while setters Shannon Stone and Camryn Kaina combined for 35 assists. On defense, Rylee Adair notched 16 digs, while Ramos added 11 and Coffin notched 10.

For the Dons (1-11, 0-5), Stephanie Ozokwo had 14 kills and 12 digs, while Hannah DeGrasse added 11 kills. Setter Jasmin Cardona dished out 30 assists, while libero Stephanie Huerta came up with 21 digs.

Coast will return to action on Friday night at home against Santiago Canyon, beginning at 6 p.m.
