Pirate ladies perform well at Titan Invational

FULLERTON -- With a top-40 point total for each competing runner, the Orange Coast College women's volleyball team placed third overall at the 2015 Cal State Fullerton Titan Invitational on Friday afternoon.

Competing against four-year schools and some top unattached runners in the area, Coast finished third overall with 90 points, behind Loyola Marymount (40) and Biola (43). Coast did finish ahead of other four-year schools, including Long Beach State (92), Cal Baptist (110), Hope International (125) and UC Santa Barbara (177).

Freshman Alyssa Allen was OCC's top runner at the event, finishing third among team runners with a time of 18 minutes, 41.74 seconds. Other top runners for the Pirates include Janessa Reyes (12 points, 19:23.49), Karen Cruz (21 points, 20:31.98), Daisy Vazquez (25 points, 20:56.25), Jennifer Romero (29 points, 21:34.87), and Alicia Carbajal (38 points, 22:37.28).

The Pirates will return to action on Friday at the Orange Empire Conference Championships, held at Mason Park in Irvine, beginning at 9 a.m.
