Pirate women place sixth at Titan Invitational

FULLERTON -- The Orange Coast College women's cross country team took to the trails one last time before this week's Orange Empire Conference championships and finished sixth overall at the Cal State Fullerton Titan Invitational on Friday.

Let by a pair of top-30 times, the Pirates took sixth with a team score of 170 points against a field of two- and four-year programs from throughout the area. 

Emily Olson and Skyler Madrid were the top Pirate performers on Friday, conquering the 5,000-meter course with a pair of solid times. Olson finished 25th overall with a time of 19 minutes, 59 seconds, while Madrid was close behind with a time of 20:00.9.

Another back-to-back finish for the Pirates came down the line as Meagan Silves (21:38.4) finished 60th, followed close behind by teammate Angelica Mateo (21:42.1).

Other top OCC times included Kelsey Withers (21:53), Gabriela Delgado (22:45.6) and Alize Segura (24:39.7).

The Orange Empire Conference Championships will begin on Friday at 10 a.m. at Irvine Park in Orange.
