Pirates fall to Gauchos

MISSION VIEJO -- The Orange Coast College football team dropped its fourth straight game on Saturday, falling to Saddleback College, 52-24, in a Southern Conference matchup.

The Pirates (3-5, 1-3) found themselves in an early hole as the Gauchos (3-4, 2-1) jumped out to a 24-0 lead and never looked back.

Coast managed to find some offensive success midway through the second quarter when Cameron Biedgoly capped off a nine-play, 78-yard drive with a 5-yard TD run to make it 24-7.

After a Gaucho touchdown made it 31-7, Biedgoly took to the air and connected with Tyler Duncan on a 24-yard touchdown pass to make it 31-13.

OCC got to within two scores midway through the third quarter when Chavo Camargo hit a 36-yard field goal to make it 31-16 before the Gauchos responded with another 21-point barrage to blow the game wide open.

Backup quarterback Jon Newsom hooked up with Buzzy Yokoyama on a 5-yard touchdown pass to close out the scoring for the Pirates. Yokoyama finished with a team-best eight catches for 110 yards.

Biedgoly finished the night with 285 passing yards and a touchdown on 20-of-34 passing with one interception. Duncan continued his fine play with five catches for 96 yards, while Bryan Keller contributed four catches for 91 yards.

Coast will return to OCC's LeBard Stadium on Saturday night for a 6 p.m. matchup with rival Golden West in the annual "West-Coast Showdown".
