Austin Bennett set to move on to Oregon State

COSTA MESA -- Orange Coast College defensive standout Austin Bennett will continue his athletic and academic careers at Oregon State University, according to head coach Mike Taylor.

The 6-foot-1, 195-pounder from South Whidbey (WA) High School was a two-year starter for the Pirates in 2011 and 2012.

After a 43-tackle (22 solo) season as a freshman, Bennett came through with 69 tackles (35 solo) in 2012, third-best on the Pirate defense.

Bennett also collected 2.5 sacks, 8.5 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one interception for the Pirates this past season.
