Nick Cody heading to Oregon

COSTA MESA -- Orange Coast College standout linebacker Nick Cody will take his athletic and academic talents to the University of Oregon to play with the powerhouse Ducks, according to OCC head coach Mike Taylor.

Cody, a two-year starter for the Pirates out of Trabuco Hills High School, was the anchor of the Coast defense in 2012, racking up a team-best 98 tackles (50 solo) with three sacks, 16 tackles for loss and two fumble recoveries.

A relentless worker on the football field, Cody earned CCCFCA Region IV All-State honors for his remarkable play in 2012. 

In six of OCC's 10 games, Cody amassed double-digit tackles, including a season-best 13 against Moorpark on Sept. 1 and against College of the Desert on Oct. 6. 

In his final game for the Pirates on Nov. 3 against Fullerton, Cody picked up a season-best eight solo tackles, one sack, two TFL and one fumble recovery.

As a freshman, the 6-foot-2, 235-pound Cody earned second-team, All-Eastern Conference honors after racking up 85 tackles (39 solo). He led the Pirates with three fumble recoveries and also picked up one sack and one interception.
