Pirates conquer Mt. SAC Tournament

WALNUT -- A frustrating five-game losing skid became a thing of the past for the Orange Coast College men's basketball team as the Pirates won all three games at the Mt. San Antonio College Mountie Classic on Dec. 1-3.

In the opener, Coast (5-5) took on Merrit College and used a strong first half to prevail, 74-60. Joshua Davis had 17 points and 11 rebounds to pace the Pirate offense, while Rachaun Echols added 16 points and Leonard Stallings contributed 12 points and four rebounds off of the bench.

In the second game, OCC took on the host Mounties and used a double-double from Kupaa Harrison to slip past Mt. SAC, 53-51. Harrison had 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Davis added 15 points and six boards, moving the Pirates into the tourney title game against Imperial Valley.

Davis dominated down low and led the Pirates with 15 points to go along with 13 rebounds. Harrison added 12 points and seven rebounds, while Echols notched 11 points.

Coast will continue tournament play on Thursday at L.A. Southwest College against Allan Hancock, beginning at 5 p.m.
