Pirates blank Chargers, 9-0
CYPRESS -- The Orange Coast College men's tennis team improved to 8-2 overall, 2-1 in the Orange Empire Conference with an impressive, 9-0 win over host Cypress on Tuesday.
The Pirates went a perfect 12-for-12 in singles sets, with victories turned in by Elmer Von Butselaar (6-1, 6-0), Darren Dinh (6-3, 6-2), Ross Ewart (6-0, 6-0), Peter Hariri (6-2, 6-0), Joseph Nguyen (6-1, 6-2) and Philip Vu (6-4, 6-0).
In doubles, it was more of the same as the teams of Van Butselaar/Hariri (8-0), Ding/Anthony Thai (8-1) and Vu/Nguyen (8-4) all cruised to comfortable wins.
Coast will return to action on Thursday at home against Irvine Valley, beginning at 2 p.m.
