Rogers third, Duong fourth at OEC Multi-Events Championship

COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College men's track and field duo of Noah Rogers and Tommy Duong finished third and fourth, respectively, at the 2016 Orange Empire Conference Multi-Events Championship, held at Orange Coast College, last Wednesday and Thursday.

Rogers and Duong both competed in the two-day decathlon for the Pirates, with Rogers taking third with 5,156 points and Duong placing fourth with 5,097. Saddleback's Alec Cranford won the OEC decathlon title with 6,055, while Riverside's Chad Ponciano (5,926) took second.

Duong opened the competition with a win in the 100 meters, crossing the finish line with a time of 11.54 seconds. Rogers took third with a time of 11.95.

Rogers took first in the high jump, clearing the bar at 6-feet, 3/4-inch, tying RCC's Ponciano for the top spot. He continued his fine performance in the 110 hurdles with a winning time of 15.71.

Duong also earned a second-place point total in the javelin throw with a mark of 134-4.

The remainder of the OEC Track and Field Championships will take place on Friday, April 22 (prelims) and Friday, April 29 (finals) at Orange Coast College, beginning at 9 a.m.
