OCC men take seventh place at SoCal Preview

ORANGE -- Led by a pair of top-12 performances, the Orange Coast College men's cross country team finished seventh overall at the 2016 Southern California Preview Meet, held at Irvine Park, on Friday.

Coast finished with 187 points and trailed only Riverside (73), Cuyamaca (100), Mt. San Antonio (111), San Bernardino Valley (113), Glendale (132) and Santa Ana (158) in the overall, 32-team standings.

Pirate freshman Peter Costanzo made a memorable first impression for the Pirates, finishing ninth overall with a four-mile time of 21 minutes, 7.3 seconds. He was the second-fastest freshman in the entire race (Palomar's Mark Ybarra finished seventh with a 21:01.9).

Sophomore teammate Danny Dominguez finished 11th for Coast with a solid time of 21:12.8, followed by Pirate teammates Galyn Nash (21:52.8), Oscar Salas (22:20), Shawn Contreras (22:27.2), Hector Leon (22:38), Adolfo Cruz (22:54), Dominic Gonzales (23:02.5), Abraham Spitzer-Tilchin (23:12.6), Ken Nakama (24:42.7), Joseph Martinez (24:43.8), COlin Takushi (25:12.7) and Samuel Russakov (25:32).

The Pirates will return to action on Friday at the Golden West Invitational, held at Central Park in Huntington Beach, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
