
Pirates earn state finals bid at SoCal Regional Meet
RANCHO CUCAMONGA -- The Orange Coast College men's cross country is Fresno-bound after finishing 10th overall at the 2024 Southern California Regional Meet, hosted by Chaffey College, on Friday.
Led by the strong performance of sophomore Caden Guardino, the Pirates finished in the 10-spot with a team score of 285, earning a top-16 spot which qualifies them for the 3C2A State Meet, which takes place on Nov. 23 at Fresno's Woodward Park.
Guardino took on the best runners in the region and a tough 4-mile course and finished 21st overall with a time of 21 minutes, 21.4 seconds. Moises Bailon just missed the top-50, but placed 51st overall with a time of 22:10.6, followed by Chance Callinan (22:29.2), William Dang, (22:38.4), Farhaan Safi (22:47.4) and Nathan Garcia (23:11.8).
