Pirates earn split with win over Santa Ana and loss against Irvine Valley
IRVINE -- The Orange Coast College women's sand volleyball team wrapped up the regular season with a split in its two matches on Friday, topping Santa Ana, 4-1 before falling to Irvine Valley, 5-0, at IVC.
In the win over the Dons, Coast (7-3, 2-2 in conference) was led by victories by Danielle Boyette and Sierra Brown (21-18, 21-14), Shayna Johnson and Alexa Herrera (15-21, 21-18, 15-5), Lehua Alama-Jordan and Danyelle Brown and Alyssa Assayag and Kasse Ann Dela Cruz (20-22, 21-10, 15-13).
It was not quite the same success against the powerhouse Lasers as IVC swept all five matchups en route to the win.
Up next for the Pirates is the Orange Empire Conference Individual Championships, with first-round action beginning on Wednesday at Irvine Valley College, beginning at 12 p.m. Round 2 will take place on Friday at IVC at 12 p.m. with Team Regional competition kicking off on Tuesday, April 28 at IVC (12 p.m.).
