Pirates roll past El Camino-Compton, 19-0

COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College softball team came out swinging against visiting El Camino-Compton as the Pirates cruised to a 19-0, five-inning win over the Tartars on Saturday afternoon.

Every starter picked up at least one hit, every starter scored at least one run and every starter had at lead one RBI for the Pirates, who opened the 2016 season in impressive style. 

Among the offensive stars for the Pirates included catcher Anna Marin, who went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI. Taylor Gallo went 3-for-4 with four runs and one RBI, while Linnea Donahugh added three hits, two runs and an RBI.

Pitcher Montana Roelvink made her OCC debut a memorable one, with a no-hit, four-strikeout performance over the first four innings before Cayla Ezelle tossed a scoreless fifth with two strikeouts.

OCC will play four games in a row on the road, beginning on Friday with a doubleheader at Southwestern College, followed by a pair of games at El Camino College on Tuesday.

The Pirates will return to the OCC Softball Complex on Wednesday, Feb. 17 against Riverside City College, beginning at 3 p.m.
