Pirates roll past L.A. Harbor, 13-5

WILMINGTON -- The Orange Coast College softball team made the trip up to L.A. County worth while as the Pirates rolled past host L.A. Harbor, 13-5 on Saturday in a nonconference matchup.

Anna Marin went 2-for-3 with a double, home run, four runs scored and three RBI for the Pirates (9-20), while Cayla Ezelle collected three hits, scored three times and drove in a run. Ariel Fernandez also went 2-for-2 with two walks, two runs and two RBI.

Ezelle (2-7) pitched for the Pirates and the freshman went the distance, allowing five runs on eight hits.

Coast trailed 5-4 after four innings before rallying for a pair of runs in the fifth, three more in the sixth and four runs in the seventh to pull away from the Seahawks (10-22). In the fifth, OCC took advantage of four walks to plate a run before the Pirates took the lead on a passed ball and never looked back.

In the sixth, Marin slugged her sixth home run of the season to put the Pirates ahead 7-4 and in the seventh, she ripped an RBI-double to highlight OCC's four-run frame.

The Pirates will return to Orange Empire Conference action on Tuesday at Santiago Canyon College, beginning at 3 p.m. OCC's next home game is Wednesday against Fullerton, also at 3 p.m.
