Gallo earns first-team, all-conference, all-regional honors for Pirates

COSTA MESA -- Orange Coast College freshman shortstop Taylor Gallo earned first-team, All-Orange Empire Conference honors after a stellar 2016 campaign, as voted on by the conference's coaches at their annual end-of-season meeting.

In addition to that honor, Gallo was also a selection to this year's All-Southern California Regional Team, a squad to which only five other OEC players were named.

Gallo batted .443 in conference play (.425 overall) to lead the Pirates in 2016. The Warren HS graduate finished the entire season with a team-best 45 hits, 28 runs and 11 doubles to go along with 16 RBI, 11 walks and only three strikeouts in 106 at-bats.

A steady force with the bat, Gallo earned hits in 26 of the 35 games she played. Eight times, she had a multi-hit performance, including six three-hit games and a 4-for-4 performance against Santa Ana on April 1.

Included in those games was a 3-for-3, four-run, two-double performance against El Camino-Compton Center on Jan. 30, a 3-for-4, two-run showing in a 9-2 win over Golden West on April 13 and a 3-for-3, one-run, three-RBI outburst in a 12-3 win over Glendale on April 22.
