Pirates finished second overall at second OEC tourney

EL CAJON -- The Orange Coast College women's golf team shot a team score of 345 and finished second overall at last week's Orange Empire Conference matchup, hosted by Cuyamaca College and played at the Sycuan Golf Course.

After placing fifth in the season opener at Soboba Springs, Coast, (11-5 overall) picked up seven big wins and were topped only by Mt. San Antonio College, who shot a 330. College of the Desert finished third with a 347, while Irvine Valley (351), Palomar (355), Mt. San Jacinto (356), Saddleback (382), Cuyamaca (388) and Fullerton (442) rounded out the scoring.

Emily Lewis was not only the low scorer for the Pirates, she was the low scorer for the entire event, shooting a 3-over-par, 75. In fact, only three golfers, Lewis, Desert's Kabrea Rosas (77) and Mt. SAC's Victoria Rodarte (78), managed to score in the 70s among the entire field.

Other scores turned in by the Pirates include Nicole Jenkins (85), September Mirghanbari (90), Minh Ngo (95) and Madeline McCloskey (116).

Coast will return to action on Monday at Ironwood Country Club (hosted by the College of the Desert), beginning at 10 a.m.
