Pirates wrap up home schedule with 3-0 win over Dons

COSTA MESA -- The sophomores ended their home careers on the right note as the Orange Coast College women's soccer team rolled past visiting Santa Ana, 3-0, on Friday in an Orange Empire Conference matchup.

Litzy Morales scored two goals for the Pirates (9-5-3 overall, 7-2-1 in the OEC), while Stephanie Serrato added a goal of her own. Assists were turned in by Tess Doucette, Kennedy Heimer and Finley Doucette.

In goal, Leila Saldic notched four saves and helped continue the dominant defensive play of the Pirates by picking up her fifth consecutive shutout decision and seventh overall.

The home win was the final regular season home win for OCC's seven departing sophomores, which include Morales, Serrato, Saldic, Clarissa Sullivan, Zoe Bacca, Jaslyn Cifuentes and Isha Gerlach.

After a scoreless first half against the Dons (1-12-2, 0-10), Coast found its rhythm in the second half. Morales took a feed from Tess Doucette and ripped a shot past SAC goalkeeper Noemi Reyes in the 57th minute to put Coast up for good.

Serrato made it 2-0 in the 73rd minute after a long throw-in by Heimer found its way through the bodies of both teams and onto the foot of the OCC forward.

Just seven minutes later, Morales' second goal of the game and sixth of the season closed out the scoring for the match.

The Pirates will now head to the road for the final four matches of the regular season, beginning on Tuesday at Cypress College, beginning at 3 p.m.
