Pirates dominate Gauchos, Hornets

MISSION VIEJO -- With wins in 10 different events, the Orange Coast College women's track and field team cruised to victories over Saddleback (113-38) and Fullerton (106-39) colleges in Friday's Orange Empire Conference tri-meet, held at Saddleback College.

Coast opened things with a victory in the 400 meter relay as the foursome of Fatemeh Javdi Tabarroki, Taylor Sims, Hannah Heising and Decontee Ayers clocked in with a time of 50.43 seconds.

Bethani Heising and teammate Alyssa Allen both cleared the 5-minute mark in the 1,500, with Heising taking first with a time of 4:55.1, followed closely behind by Allen's time of 4:58.79. Bethani Heising also finished first in the 800 with a time of 2:23.48, as well as the 400 hurdles (1:10.5). 

Allen continued her long day by taking first in the 3,000 with a winning time of 10:53.76.

It was a 1-2-3 finish in the 100 hurdles, led by the trio of Sims (15.09), Javdi Tabarroki (17.9) and Yessica Castellanos (18.74).

Ayers and fellow Pirate Lauren Delgadillo finished 1-2 in the 100, with Ayers clocking in at 12.77, followed by Delgadillo's time of 13.37.

In the high jump, Jessica Cardenas edged out Saddleback's Marissa McNeal and cleared 4-feet, 11-inches to take the top spot.

It was a Pirate clean sweep in the triple jump as Javdi Tabarroki (31-6 3/4), Monica Ayala (30-10 1/2), Azin Isfahani (29-feet), Castellanos (28-6 1/4) and Cardenas (28-5) finished 1-2-3-4-5.

Hannah Heising was the top performer in the javelin throw with a winning mark of 92-10 1/4.

The Pirates will return to action on Friday at 11 a.m. against host Santa Ana and Golden West in another OEC tri-meet.
